The Red Sox were one of the strongest teams
around thanks largely to baseball legend, Babe Ruth. Babe saw the Red Sox win five World Series between
1903 to 1918. In 1920 the Red Sox sold the 'Bambino' to the Yankees and
never won a World Series since! The curse of the Bambino was finally laid
to rest on 27 October 2004 when the Red Sox beat the St Louis Cardinals to
lift the Championship Trophy. The Red Sox cap is probably the second most
popular cap in the US, following far behind the New York Yankees. Have a

The Red Sox play out of Fenway Park in Boston
which opened for business in 1912. But over the years Fenway has
seen many 'minor' modifications. A 23 foot net was placed on the
wall in left field to prevent baseballs from breaking the window of nearby
shops in 1936. The 'Green Monster' was erected in '47 when the
advertisement boards were taken down from the left field wall. After the
1975 season, a $1.3 million video/scoreboard was erected. In the '80s,
luxury boxes were installed. 250 bar style seats were added on top of the
top the Green Monster, giving fans a whole new perspective on the game in
2002. |
