About. The Colorado Rockies have a
brief yet exciting history. They came into Major League Baseball in 1993
and despite being a new team, the Rockies had over over
80,000 people at their first home game at Mile High Stadium.
Stadium.
In 1995, the Rockies moved into Coors Field where over 50,000 fans are treated
to a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains. With its hand laid brick and
clock tower, Coors Field looks like 1920's urban ballpark To prevent
the stadium from being imposing, the field is located 21 feet below street
level. Coors Field has loads of amenities including over 4,400 club seats,
a microbrewery and the Mountain Ranch Club which has fine dining on six
tiers. At an elevation of 5,200 feet, Coors Field instantly became a
hitters paradise. A signature of the ballpark is the purple row of seats
in the upper deck, meant to signify the 'mile high altitude' point. Games at
Coors Field are always high scoring. A ball hit 400 feet at Yankee Stadium
is estimated to travel 440 feet at Coors Field because of the thin air -
increasing runs and homeruns by 50 percent. With its dramatic views of the
Rocky Mountains, Coors Field has become one of the most popular ballparks
in baseball.
